COVID 19 Prayer

This is a SPECIAL EDITION prayer update inviting you to focus with us in prayer on the impact of COVID 19 on Africa.

The economic and humanitarian impact will be profound, and the pandemic will bear harsh consequences for Africa, according to Matshidiso Moeti the Africa regional director of the World Health Organization.

• Pray that governments will act quickly with justice and wisdom.
• Pray that medical infrastructures will not be overwhelmed.
• Pray that educational institutions will help inform people about safe practices
• Pray that churches will facilitate home worship and be light in this darkness

LET THE VOICES OF OUR AFRICAN PARTNERS MOTIVATE YOU TO PRAY:

“Many people live on their daily wages. Keeping indoors will make many starve. Culturally, helping one another is paramount, which makes social distancing hard.” — Emmanuel Mukeshimana, ASB Launch Coordinator, Uganda

“The current pandemic has caused uncertainty, frustration and fear of what tomorrow holds. Social lives in the world have been disrupted and, like other nations, we are in a crisis. Let us look up to God for inner renewal, hope and strength.” — Dankit Nassiuma, Vice Chancellor, AIU, Kenya

“Give thanks for how far God has brought us in this crisis. A lot is at stake—risk of losing friends and loved ones, risk of losing revenue to meet commitments, risk of losing jobs and therefore family income for sustenance, etc.” Pray for wisdom to come up with a Business Continuity Plan that secures Challenge operations into the future under the grace of God.” — Kofi Agamah, Managing Director, Challenge Enterprises, Ghana

“The lockdown means that ODL can’t operate. This total lack of revenue creates a dire situation for the 24 staff members who are struggling to provide their families with food.” —Shehu Singhriku, Oasis Distribution Limited, Nigeria

“We had to cut the staff to only 4. We kept the ones who had families. The economy here is shut down. Pray for the staff and work. Pray for the ministries out there that may now realize the importance of working together…to impact the kingdom in the best way possible.” — Tim Kelly, P4A, Kenya

“Most of our people are vulnerable for lack of appropriate infrastructures, services and expenses to fight against such a virus. In Tanzania the infection is increasing every day. Please pray people would be willing to take precautions and specific steps to prevent the transmission of the virus.” — Archbishop Mussa Magwesela, Africa Inland Church, Tanzania

“We are sharing encouraging kingdom principles to prevent trauma in this situation but also helping to respond to those who are overwhelmed and confused.” — Leonard Kiswangi, AE, DRC

“COVID 19 is a set back for the book market. Only shops selling foodstuffs are allowed to open. Both public adn private transport have been banned. Business is at a standstill. Pray for better times.” — Olupot Malaki, Book Distributor, Uganda
